INTRODUCTION

Whisky Live! in Tokyo 2009 set new records in various ways- including the best-ever attendance at just over 4,750 people, the first-ever 2-hour Mega-Class (Richard Paterson, who else?) and a frenetic stage schedule that included 2 live bands, blending competitions, a best-dressed contest and a whisky debate.

There was certainly little sign of doom & gloom amongst an audience that seems to get younger every year. Indeed Live! seems to provide the ideal antidote to these challenging times- the opportunity to sample hundreds of whiskies and meet the people who distill it, blend it and write about it for a living, in what becomes every year more of a party atmosphere.

Whisky Live! started in Tokyo, back in October 2000, and next year sees the 10th anniversary- now that’ll be a party worth waiting for!
